Each and every animation career is different, with experiences, challenges and triumphs shaping the individual and their journey within the world of animation. Joining us to discuss their career in animation is Laura Tofarides; a stop-motion director, animator & puppet maker. A professional animator for over ten years, Laura works on features, shorts, commercials, TV specials & TV series with directors such as Nick Park and Wes Anderson.

As part of the Young Animator of the Year Awards, Laura comes to MAF to deliver an inspirational talk to help young animators who are setting off on their own animation journey.

Laura Tofarides

Laura is a Welsh Director, Stop-Motion Animator and Puppet Maker based in Bristol. With a decade of experience in stop motion she has animated on many of the most acclaimed Films & TV series both in the UK and internationally including Wallace & Gromit: Vengeance Most Fowl, Shaun the Sheep, Isle of Dogs, Chicken Run: Dawn of the Nugget and many more films, shorts and commercials. Her debut short film Brain Space screens at MAF 2025 in the British Animated Short Film Award programme.
