Join Manchester Animation Festival as we celebrate 25 years of this modern animated classic.
In 1950’s America, a young boy named Hogarth befriends a giant robot from outer space that crash lands near his town. Whilst the Iron Giant is kind, a paranoid government agent becomes determined to destroy the misunderstood robot.
Brad Bird (The Incredibles, Ratatouille) made his feature directing debut with this moving animated adventure inspired by an illustrated children’s novel by poet Ted Hughes. The Iron Giant is beautifully animated with the visual iconography of ’50s genre cinema, with a humanist message, lots of wit and a huge amount of heart.
This screening will take place on at 18:15 on Tue 28 May at HOME Cinema, Manchester and will be introduced by our very own festival director, Dr Steve Henderson!
MAF Presents is sponsored by University of Salford.
