Amy Gledhill
Amy is a comedian, actor, writer and director from Hull who brims with natural warmth and charm. One half of double Edinburgh nominated duo The Delightful Sausage.
In 2023 her debut show, The Girl Before The Girl You Marry was nominated for Best Live Show at The National Comedy Awards. She was also nominated for Best Newcomer AND Best Show at The Edinburgh Fringe – A never before attained accolade in the same year. Following a sold out run at Soho Theatre she is now embarking on a UK wide tour.
Skilled in both comedic and dramatic acting she has appeared in/is set to appear in; Sex Education (Netflix), Life (BBC1), Somewhere Boy (C4), Alma’s Not Normal (BBC2), Starstruck (BBC3), Hull Raisers (C4) and more.
She is a welcome guest on panel and chat shows such as; The Jonathan Ross Show (ITV), Pointless Celebrities (BBC1), Alan Davies: As Yet Untitled, Richard Ayoade’s Question Team & Hypothetical (Dave), and Guessable (Comedy central),
Amy has performed stand up / sketches on; The Stand Up Sketch Show (ITV2), Late Night Mash (Dave) Harry Hill’s Clubnite (C4), Comedy Central Live (Comedy Central) and multiple series of The Emily Atack Show (ITV2). She has also hosted the prestigious BBC Comedy Awards Northern Final (BBC1).
Amy is a triple Edinburgh nominated writer, gaining a nomination for three shows in a row. Beyond writing for live shows she was a lead writer on the multi-award nominated Emily Atack Show, The BAFTA award winning Classed Dismissed and wrote on (and starred in) CBBC’s hit show Big Fat Like demonstrating she is a sharp joke writer whilst also being able to excel at long form narrative and character work.“
Amy played lead roles in comedy series; Phil Ellis is Trying (Radio 4) andThe Train at Platform 4 (Radio 4) and wrote and starred in a Radio 2 comedy special The Delightful Sausage: On Staycations.The Sausage is currently working on their Radio 4 series commission Big Little Questions.
She has also featured on The News Quiz, The Ultimate Choice, Newsjack Unplugged, Ankle Tag, Al Murray: Totally Out of Character and more.
Amy is co-host of hit podcast Northern News, which hit the top 20 in the Apple comedy podcast charts after just two weeks.
Alongside Isy Suttie, she hosted the BBC’s official companion piece to Happy Valley, Obsessed With…Happy Valley.
She has been a guest on Off Menu with James Acaster and Ed Gamble, Richard Herring’s Leicester Square Theatre Podcast and Drunk Women Solving Crime.
She has a BBC Sounds commission with The Delightful Sausage in the pipeline which is a part scripted / part improvised narrative podcast coming soon.
Amy directed a BFI funded short film Peeler which was selected as part of the BFI film festival 2022 and has been given honourable mention at The International Comedy Film Festival.
