Join Manchester Animation Festival for our first screening of 2025 for the 15th Anniversary of Sylvain Chomet’s The Illusionist.
The Illusionist is a homage to French writer-director-actor Jacques Tati and is based on a script Tati wrote but never produced. The film focuses on a magician who, with emerging rock stars stealing his thunder in the late 1950s, is forced to accept increasingly obscure assignments in fringe theatres, at garden parties and in bars and cafés. Whilst performing in a village pub off the west coast of Scotland, he encounters Alice, an innocent young girl, who will change his life forever. From the director of Belleville Rendez-vous, with superb animation and beautiful backgrounds, come and let The Illusionist work its magic on you.
Event/ This screening will be introduced by Dr Steve Henderson, Director of Manchester Animation Festival.
