Past Event

It’s the last MAF Presents slot before the festival, and we’re bringing an awesome festival tie-in to the big screen at  Chapeltown Picturehouse! Joining us at the festival will be the visionary animator Denis Do, to take us behind the scenes on some of his upcoming projects. The celebrate this, on Wed 9 Nov we’ll be bringing his directorial debut masterpiece Funan to our month MAF Presents programming! This beautiful film played as part of MAF 2018 and audiences adored it. We hope you can join us for this ahead of the festival which takes place the week after!

Winner of the Feature Film Cristal at Annecy Animation Festival, Funan is the incredibly powerful story of a young woman who must learn how to stand up for herself, survive in the regime of the Khmer Rouge and find her son who was kidnapped during their forced exile from Phnom Penh.
