Manchester-based illustrator and animator Kristian Duffy has brought his distinct creative vision to Manchester Animation Festival (MAF) by designing the ident, poster, and animating the festival’s sting for it’s landmark tenth edition. Known for his impressive portfolio, which includes work for Apple, the BBC, Marvel, and other high-profile clients, Duffy’s contribution to MAF adds a fresh layer of artistic excitement to the festival’s visual identity.
The new sting, designed by Duffy, features a captivating sequence in which a young girl lifts a curtain on a dull, grey world to reveal a vibrant, psychedelic realm of wonder and excitement. The animation symbolises the festival’s mission to celebrate the power of animation as a medium to explore creativity and break free from the mundane and will play before every screening and event at MAF this year.
Duffy’s distinctive style, blending vibrant colours and surreal elements, perfectly captures the essence of MAF’s spirit. His work promises to engage audiences and inspire attendees as they immerse themselves in the diverse films and talks at the festival. Duffy’s collaboration with MAF highlights the talent in Manchester’s creative community and strengthens the festival’s connection to its local roots while celebrating the broader world of animation.
