It’s our first screening of 2023! And it’s one of our Japanese favourites from last year, Atsuko Ishizuka’s beautiful coming of age story Goodbye, Don Glees!
The film centres around teen misfits Roma, Toto, and Drop, who call themselves the “Don Glees,” an informal name for their backyard adventures. One day, when the trio gets blamed for a nearby forest fire, they set off into the woods to prove their innocence. As disaster strikes their expedition, tensions flare between the friends as they realise that growing up has taken them on wildly different paths in life.
This film is a gorgeously told story that explores friendship, being young, and the trials of adolescence. Do not miss this rare chance to catch it in cinema with an audience!
This event will take place at Chapeltown Picture House, which is part of the award winning street food venue GRUB and is a short 5 min walk from Manchester Victoria Train Station. Veggie & Vegan options are available for food & drink and the venue is accessible, please head here for more info.
